Although I was born in Colombia, my upbringing was mostly in Canada and the United States. During my time in Canada, I had the privilege of learning traditional beading techniques from the First Nations people. Since then, I have continued to teach myself and explore new techniques by embroidering thousands of tiny beads into fabric, resulting in 2D artwork, sculpture, and jewelry that fuse traditional and innovative elements.

As my passion for beadwork grew, I yearned to venture into larger artistic expressions. It was during this quest that I discovered the enchanting world of mosaics. Mosaic art allowed me to create on a bigger scale, bringing together vibrant colors, textures, and intricate patterns. I have since created several commissioned art pieces, including various public art installations, where my mosaics have found homes in the hearts of communities.

Hello, I'm Lys!

I am an artist, artisan, and maker, specializing in creating intricate and unique jewelry, art, and sculpture using tiny glass beads. My ultimate mission as an artist is to spread joy and happiness throughout our world. The process of working with my hands brings me immense joy, and I believe that each object I create is infused with that happiness, love, and intention. This is my offering and gift to the world.

From a young age, I have been captivated by the art of creation. As an adult, during a visit to my native Colombia, I discovered that the women in my family have long been masterful makers, passing down their wisdom and skills through generations. Creating is in my blood, and my hands carry the legacy of this powerful lineage. I am proud to be the first in my family to become a full-time artist and business owner, and I am deeply grateful for the sacrifices and hard work that my family and ancestors have made, paving the way for my journey.

Everything you see on my website is handmade by me with so much love and care. For that reason, every single piece is special. You can feel it!

I occasionally take commissions for earrings and artwork. Please contact me for rates and information. If you would like to support my art practice and receive a lovely piece of my art or jewelry, feel free to take a peek at my shop here.

Thank you,

Lys
